Flo Trapani is a Simi Valley local whose story as a police officer is told in the book “The Oath,” written by author Alicia Doyle. Tricia and I sat down with Flo, who many of us know from the pickleball courts, to talk about why she shared it.
How did “The Oath” come about?
Flo was approached at pickleball by someone in the entertainment business who had heard about her story from her years as a police officer. Her story had been the subject of a movie before, and that conversation led to the book.
What is the message of “The Oath”?
In Flo’s words: no matter how troubling things get, in your personal life or at work, there is a way to get past it, stand up for yourself, and move on. She wants to reach people who may be going through something similar.
The response
Flo told us she didn’t expect how many people would reach out after reading it, including strangers. Hearing that her story helped them take action has been the most rewarding part. I read the book in one afternoon. I couldn’t put it down.
Where can you get “The Oath”?
On Amazon, from author Alicia Doyle, from Flo herself, and at some bookstores in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
