Kalaveras is a Mexican cantina at the Simi Valley Town Center, known for big shareable plates and margaritas rimmed with chamoy made in house. I went to the grand opening and ribbon cutting in spring 2023 and talked with marketing director Liliana.

What should you order at Kalaveras?

  • The molcajete: a community favorite and one of Liliana’s, with a little bit of everything: steak, chicken, shrimp, cheese, rice, beans, and tortillas to make your own tacos.
  • Margaritas: their most popular drinks, rimmed with chamoy they make in house. It’s like Mexican candy around the rim.
  • Fresh fruit drinks: all their purees and juices are made in house.

The menu also has tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas, with vegetarian and gluten-free choices.
