Rock n Roll Cafe is a burger and sandwich spot in the Santa Susana Plaza on Tapo Street in Simi Valley, known for its chicken poblano sandwich, cheesesteak, and milkshakes, plus monthly Jeep and classic car meetups in the parking lot. It’s one of my go-to lunch spots, so Tricia and I sat down with owner Victor Cuevas.

How did Rock n Roll Cafe get started?

Victor has worked in restaurants for a long time, and his last job was at a burger place. He always wanted his own business, so when the chance came to take over Rock n Roll Cafe, he said: that’s it, this is me.

What should you order?

  • Chicken poblano: the community favorite. Grilled chicken on sourdough with salsa verde, bell peppers, grilled onions, and their secret Rock n Roll sauce.
  • Cheesesteak: my usual. Steak with grilled onions, bell peppers, cheese, and the Rock n Roll sauce.
  • Burgers, salads, and a kids’ menu.
  • Milkshakes: vanilla, Oreo, strawberry, and chocolate.

Car nights at Rock n Roll Cafe

When we filmed, a 4×4 Jeep club met in the parking lot on the third Friday of each month, about 50 Jeeps, and classic cars showed up on the first Saturday of each month.
