Single Serve Co is a cozy coffee cafe on Tapo Street in Simi Valley, run by longtime local Julie Jacobs, known for its vanilla oat latte, nitro cold brew, and custom K-cups for events. Tricia and I sat down with Julie to hear how it started.
How did Single Serve Co get started?
Julie has lived in Simi Valley for over 20 years and raised her kids here. After a coffee company she co-founded didn’t survive the pandemic, she wanted to help other small roasters who were struggling. Since they’d been making Keurig-compatible pods, she started making K-cups for small local roasters. They had a storefront, and eventually the cafe opened too.
What should you order?
- Vanilla oat latte: the community favorite.
- Coming Up Roses: a house blend with floral, fruity notes and rose syrup.
- Nitro cold brew: it took third place at the U.S. Cold Brew Championships at Coffee Fest in 2021, just six months after opening.
Custom K-cups for events
Single Serve Co makes custom K-cups with no minimums, even just one. They’re great for weddings, party favors, and events. Julie once made custom pods for a philanthropic ladies’ tea serving about 1,000 guests.
