July 11 is 7-Eleven Day, and 7-Eleven has often celebrated with free Slurpees. Every year I try to hit as many of the 7-Elevens in Simi Valley as I can in one day. Here’s how my run went, store by store.
Which Simi Valley 7-Elevens did I visit?
- Alamo Street and Tapo Canyon Road: already a big line, with cups ready to go. I got peach candy lemonade. Not bad.
- Tapo Canyon Road and Cochran Street: another line and sticky floors. I tried blueberry, and it was pretty good.
- Sequoia Avenue and Los Angeles Avenue: shorter line, but the lids kept popping off and my wild cherry Slurpee ended up on my boots.
- Cochran Street and Sycamore Drive: the lids fit, finally. The Coca-Cola flavor tasted a little off by that point in the day.
- Erringer Road and Cochran Street: I tried the piña colada, and I was impressed.
After five stores I was starting to feel sick, so I called it. My goal for next year: all eight 7-Elevens in Simi Valley.
Tips for Free Slurpee Day
- Go early. Lines build up fast and popular flavors run out.
- Check the 7-Eleven app before you go. The offer changes from year to year.
- Hold that lid down.
