East Coast Pizza Company is a family-owned pizzeria on Tapo Canyon Road in Simi Valley that makes hand-tossed pizza from scratch and bakes it directly on brick. Tricia and I stopped by for its 10-year anniversary ribbon cutting in February 2022 and talked with owners Neil and Ashley.
What makes East Coast Pizza different?
Neil grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania, and Ashley’s father is from Manhattan. When they moved out here, they couldn’t find pizza like what they grew up with, so they opened their own. Everything is made from scratch. The pizza is hand tossed and baked right on the brick, with no conveyor belts or screens, and Neil says that makes a huge difference in the taste.
What should you order?
- Plain cheese or pepperoni: what the purists order. You can’t go wrong.
- Specialty pizzas: gouda sausage and mushroom, gorgonzola and grape, and the veggie pizza.
- Beyond pizza: sandwiches on bread made from scratch, salads, wings, and cannolis.
What did the community say?
Then-Mayor Keith Mashburn was at the ribbon cutting and told us it’s great food. One regular who grew up in New Jersey told me he’s been coming since the day they opened, about three times a week, and after trying every pizza place in Simi, this is his pick.
