Bree’s Cakes is a custom cake and dessert bakery at the Simi Valley Town Center, run by baker Bree, who has competed on Food Network’s Cake Wars and other TV baking shows. I stopped by the Simi Valley Town Center to visit Bree at her bakery and find out what all the buzz was about. This video was filmed in May 2023, right after Bree’s Cakes opened its Town Center shop.
How did Bree’s Cakes get started?
Bree started baking cakes for fun when she was in college. She told me she never thought she would own a bakery. She began posting her work on social media, the orders kept coming, and it snowballed into a full business. She ran it as an online bakery before opening her storefront here in Simi Valley.
Has Bree been on TV?
Yes. Bree has been on a long list of baking competition shows, including Food Network’s Cake Wars. Her words: pretty much every baking show you’ve seen, she’s probably been on it. That background shows in her cakes. She focuses on one-of-a-kind, over-the-top custom cakes you won’t find at a typical bakery.

I asked Bree for the community favorites. Here’s what she told me:
- Mermaid lemonade: the top-selling drink on her full drink menu.

When we filmed, Bree was also planning to add cake decorating classes and birthday parties at the shop. Ask about them when you visit.

Bree’s favorite way is in person. She loves meeting face to face with her clients to talk through the design. You can also call or email the shop. And no, she would not give me her secret recipe. You’ll have to come taste it for yourself.
